Recently I set out on the long drive to Frankfort Light in Northern Michigan to test my new Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 g2 lens. Below is one of a handful of images I captured during this trip. This lighthouse was built in1919. In 1932 the lighthouse was moved to its current location on the north breakwater. Its size was increased and today the tower stands at 67 feet. During the time of this photo the water was calm. I decided to capture the image as a short long exposure as a result. However it’s not uncommon for the splash coming off the break-walls during strong waves to reach the top of the light. This is not the only lighthouse in Frankfort. My favorite overall lighthouse (Point Betsie) is only a short drive away.
